Project Overview

As part of a larger Human Resource Management (HRM) software project, I designed and developed a custom CRM module that addressed unique features typically not available in standard market solutions. The module was intended to help HR teams not only manage employees but also handle external stakeholder relationships — such as recruiters, partner agencies, and client organisations — in a unified interface.

Challenge & Objectives

The challenge was two-fold: the module needed to support complex interactions between HR users and external contacts, while keeping the experience intuitive and approachable. Standard CRM systems lacked seamless integration with HR workflows and did not offer tailored capabilities for recruitment and partner engagement. My objectives included designing a system where HR professionals could track interactions, manage leads and contacts, log activities, and generate reports — all within the same platform they used for HR operations — while ensuring usability for both tech-savvy and less experienced users.

Design Strategy & Approach

I began by mapping the user journeys of multiple user types — HR administrator, recruitment manager, partner liaison — and identified key tasks such as logging contact conversations, transitioning contacts into the HR system, and generating partner performance reports. Using Figma, I created wireframes and interactive prototypes that presented clear dashboards, labelled actions, and streamlined flows for multi-stage interactions. I emphasised layout clarity, consistent visual language, and mobile responsiveness. Accessibility was considered through clear navigation paths and scalable components.

Prototyping, Testing & Iteration

I developed a high-fidelity prototype of the CRM module and conducted usability sessions with stakeholder users, focusing on ease of contact management and reporting. Early feedback showed difficulties with table layout and export functions, so I iterated to simplify data views and enhance iconography and filters. This resulted in improved efficiency in logging and retrieving stakeholder data and tighter alignment with HRM workflows.

Outcome & Reflection

The final CRM module delivered a seamless extension to the HRM platform, enabling users to manage both internal and external relationships in one place and supporting the organisation’s strategic stakeholder engagement goals. The project showcases my ability to design modular systems with advanced features tailored for niche workflows, while maintaining accessibility, consistency, and clarity. It reinforced my strength in both UX strategy and UI implementation for enterprise-level solutions.
